PBIS Olympics — Go for the Gold!

Calvert Elementary School is a PBIS school which means we believe in and use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

At CES we use PBIS to clarify and teach our school wide behavioral expectations. Students earn "passport stamps" in various locations throughout the school when they are consistently and independently demonstrating our school wide routines and procedures. When students have earned all of their stamps they will become a “PBIS Olympic Athlete in Training”. Students will then earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals based on their daily behavior throughout the year. Students that have earned medal status will be invited to participate in “Going for the Gold” celebrations.

Eagle Character of the Month

  • Each month a character trait within the PBIS program guidelines is chosen — Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, etc.
  • Teachers are asked to choose one student in their class that best exhibits the trait chosen for that month.
  • The nominated students get their picture taken and attached to a form with their name and any comments from their teacher.
  • The form is proudly displayed in the school hallway for a month.

The students are very excited when they learn they have been chosen as Eagle Character of the Month for their class. The day your student has their picture taken, they will be handed a certificate with their name, character trait, date and the principal's signature to take home with them. This will give your family the opportunity to share in the excitement.
